Why do we take what insurance companies dish out?

I purchased and paid for an insurance policy from my credit card company for 5 years, so that if I lost my job they would make the payments. Now that I'm unemployed they are telling me I have to keep up the payments until they can determine if I'm eligible. Then the policy for only pay my credit card for 18 months. They did not say that when they were taking my money, sometimes we as consumers just lay down and take whatever the insurance companies dish out. I know of people with life insurance policies who have paid hundreds of thousands of dollars paying on policies. When they get sick and need the insurance the company refuses to pay. This is legalized injustice, just because they are not wearing a mask and holding a gun doesn't mean it is not highway robbery.
