How much should I divulge about my ex?

I was in a long (read: 7 years) pretty serious relationship that ended and after a suitable grieving period I'm starting to see someone else. The topic of my ex came up and I wasnt sure how much to tell him? How long it lasted? How far it got? (moving in? ring? etc etc) How/Why we broke up?
